Swedish final waste storage - ESPOO convention - participation possible now!

The Swedish NGO Office for Nuclear Waste Review (MKG) submitted the following information concerning EIA produre according to ESPOO Convention:

The planned Swedish final repository for spent nuclear fuel is out for Espoo Convention consultation to the countries around the Baltic. If the relevant authority in these countries want to participate it is important that they formally inform the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency that they intend to participate. If they do, our organisation (MKG) can cooperate with persons/organisations in the participating countries and supply information that can be used to help their authorities ask good critical questions.

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) has sent out a document to relevant authorities in the countries around the Baltic concerning Notification in accordance with Article 3 of the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Russian Federation).

The notification has to be submitted until the 15th of February 2006.

MKG wants to get in touch with persons/organisations in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and the Russian Federation that are interested in lobbying their authorities to get them to participate in the consultation process.
